Maruha Nichiro Forges Comprehensive Logistics and Business Partnership with SENKO Group Holdings

Japanese Seafood Giant Aims to Enhance Supply Chain Sustainability and Explore New Co-Creation Opportunities in Milestone 145th Year.

TOKYO – Maruha Nichiro Corporation, a leading global seafood company, announced today that its Board of Directors has resolved to enter into a comprehensive business partnership agreement with SENKO Group Holdings Co., Ltd. (TSE, Prime Market, Stock code: 9069). The strategic alliance is designed to bolster the corporate value of both entities through collaborative efforts primarily in logistics, but also extending into various non-logistics business domains.

This partnership comes as Maruha Nichiro celebrates its 145th anniversary, a year in which the company has redefined its corporate purpose as: “For the ocean, for life.” Guided by this vision, Maruha Nichiro aims to be a pioneering company that provides solutions for human and planetary health by delivering well-being-supporting food globally. The company's long-term goal is to continue enriching lives through food for the next century.

SENKO Group Holdings, under its vision of being a "Corporate Group Creating Future Trends," seeks to "foster people and support people's lives, contributing to a genuinely productive global society by continuously challenging efforts to create new trends in products and services that shift the future." The comprehensive partnership will encompass a wide range of joint and cooperative operations:

Logistics-related initiatives:

  • Sharing of transportation and delivery functions owned by SENKO.
  • Mutual utilization of logistics bases held by both companies.
  • Mutual provision and exchange of logistics expertise.
  • Utilization of SENKO’s personnel dispatch functions and sharing of personnel training systems.
  • Joint advancement of international operations strategies.
  • Other logistics-related initiatives.

Non-logistics business activities:

  • Development of new products and services through collaboration in areas such as after-school childcare, nursing care, and fitness, leveraging SENKO’s existing initiatives.
  • Supplying foodstuff ingredients to various facilities and food service businesses/restaurants, and utilizing feedback to develop new products and services.
  • Other collaborative efforts that leverage the combined assets and strengths of both companies.

This comprehensive alliance marks a significant step for Maruha Nichiro in solidifying its supply chain resilience and exploring diversified business avenues, reinforcing its commitment to its long-term corporate purpose.
