Young’s Seafood Teams Up with Annabel Karmel to Inspire the Next Generation to Love Fish
(UNITED KINGDOM, 9/1/2021)
Young’s Seafood has teamed up with children’s food brand Annabel Karmel MBE to create fish-based frozen kid’s meals, including a Cheesy Fish Pie and Fish and Chip Shapes.
Designed for children under the age of five, it’s hoped the delicious and healthy meals will help to inspire the next generation to love fish while supporting the UK Government’s recommendation of eating two portions of fish a week as part of a healthy balanced lifestyle.
Both products be available at select Sainsbury’s, Asda, Tesco and Booths locations in the UK starting from September 2, 2021.
The addition of the two dishes continues Young’s aim to have a product available for every meal occasion, as the brand extends its range into the kid’s frozen meals category.
The Cheesy Fish Pie is made up of Atlantic Cod and Salmon fillet which are both naturally high sources of essential fatty acids, such as Omega 3, vital for children’s development. The dish comes with sweetcorn and a sweet potato and carrot mash, meaning that the product counts towards two of a child’s 5-a-day. The Fish and Chip Shapes are made with Pollock, peas, carrots and mash in golden breadcrumbs.

The collaboration with Annabel Karmel comes after a strong period of growth for frozen seafood which has seen sales grow by more than +18% in the last L52wks vs 2019, showing that the category has held up well after the peaks during Covid, as customers continue to look for healthy and sustainable food sources for their families.
Marina Richardson, marketing controller at Young’s Seafood, said: “At Young’s we are driven by a belief that a nation that enjoys fish regularly is a happier and healthier nation, and this is something we want to pass on to the next generation too. We are excited to join forces with Annabel Karmel to launch dishes that will do just that.
“The Cheesy Fish Pie and the Fish and Chip Shapes are a great choice, and the convenient format is ideal for busy parents trying to fix their children a quick but healthy meal.”
Annabel Karmel MBE, founder of Annabel Karmel, discussed the range and said that the new seafood co-branded range “helps children explore the deliciousness and nutritional benefits of fish, while also offering parents convenience and peace of mind when it comes to quality.”
