Dalrybtekhtcenter Advances Fish Processing Modernization in Russia

  (RUSSIAN FEDERATION, 12/20/2024)

Dalrybtekhtcenter, a leading player in fish processing technology, has completed a major modernization project at the North Kuril Seiner Fleet Base (SK BSF) plant in the Sakhalin Region.

According to Fishnews, this large-scale upgrade focused on enhancing the whitefish workshop by integrating conveyor systems with advanced freezer technology.

Significant Project Milestone

This project marks Dalrybtekhtsentr’s second major achievement of the year. The SK BSF plant, which operates year-round in whitefish processing, expanded its freezing capacity, necessitating updates to its fish sorting and stacking operations.

“We took on this order in February, began designing and fabricating the equipment in the spring, and shipped the components in batches over the summer,” explained Artem Shevchenko, CEO of Dalrybtekhtcenter.

The logistical challenges of transporting equipment to the remote Sakhalin location were substantial. All machinery was shipped by sea, and installation work began in October. By early December, the Dalrybtekhtsentr team had successfully completed the commissioning process.

Enhancing Efficiency

The modernization project focused on improving the efficiency and speed of fish sorting and stacking, along with tying new freezers into the workflow with conveyor systems. Additional stations for de-heading, glazing, and packaging were also added to streamline operations.

Conveyor lines now transport fish trays to freezing cabinets, where workers load them into freezers. Once frozen, the trays are sent along the conveyor to the packaging area. Empty trays are then cycled back to the start of the production line for reloading with raw materials, creating a continuous operational loop.

Upgraded Red Fish Processing

The plant’s red fish processing section also underwent modernization. While existing cutting machines were retained, Dalrybtekhtcenter engineers made adjustments to the assembly line based on client feedback to enhance its efficiency.

Production Launched, Awaiting Full Capacity Test

“The systems are fully operational, and production has already begun,” noted Shevchenko. “We’re now awaiting a large influx of fish to fully evaluate the plant’s capabilities under maximum load following the modernization.”

This project underscores Dalrybtekhtcenter’s commitment to advancing fish processing technologies and supporting Russia’s seafood industry with innovative and efficient solutions.
