The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) has suspended its Certification of Rockall Haddock effective of 23 July 2022 after a recommendation by the independent conformity assessment body (CAB).
The SFSAG Rockall haddock fishery was issued a notice of suspension in June. With the suspension now in place, fish caught on or after 23 July 2022 will no longer meet the MSC Standard and therefore cannot carry the blue MSC ecolabel.

The Chilean Salmon Council, a guild made up of AquaChile, Australis, Cermaq, Mowi and Salmones Aysén, says the number of workers they employed in Q2 2022 has increased by nearly 6 percent, or 918 people, over Q2 2021.
“The different figures in the report show an improvement in the generation of employment by salmon farming, compatible with the rise in exports of Chilean salmon to the world,” says Joanna Davidovich, executive director of the Salmon Council.

Should the appeal be successful it would grant permission for an additional fish pen to be installed together with an increase in the farms production capacity by 10 percent.

The Nueva Pescanova Group, Telefónica España and Hewlett Packard Enterprise (NYSE: HPE) will work together to further the digital transformation process of the Spanish multinational company dedicated to the fishing, farming, processing and marketing of seafood products.
More specifically, this agreement includes the centralisation of the Nueva Pescanova Group’s information and the standardisation of its technological platforms across the different countries in which it operates.
The Spanish government sanctioned two fishing vessels, Releixo and Egaluze, with a fine of €20,000 for turning off their automatic identification systems (AIS) on several occasions without cause, which is illegal for Spanish fishing vessels.
During the 4-year period between 2012 and 2016, the two vessels appeared to disable their AIS devices over 1000 hours.
