Pescanova denies official notification on sales of Chilean subsidiaries
(SPAIN, 9/22/2014)
The Galician multinational firm Pescanova says it has not been notified about the terms of the sales agreements of the two subsidiaries in Chile – Acuinova Chile and Nova Austral --, companies that, in turn, are subsidiaries of the parent firm PescaChile.
While the buyer companies made the public announcement on their respective acquisitions, Pescanova denies having received official notification.
Anyway, in a statement sent to the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV), the Galician multinational firm acknowledged the loss of both companies, which have been in bankruptcy status for months, the newspaper La Voz de Galicia informed.
Besides, it also noted that "the information made public by the buyers indicate that such transactions would be subject to certain conditions for their final performance."
Ewos signed an agreement with Acuinova’s bankruptcy trustee to acquire Nova Austral while Marine Harvest has agreed to buy the assets of Acuinova Chile SA for USD 120 million.
Pescanova considers the responsible party for the allocation of both salmon firms is "the appointed trustee by the court.”
Furthermore, it reiterated that Pesca Chile, Acuinova Chile and Nova Austral "have not been part of the consolidation perimeter of Pescanova in the annual accounts for the financial year closing" on 31 December, 2013.
