United Fishing Enterprises owns and produces the well known brand of Ocean Fresh canned fish products.
UFE catches pelagic fish species which is processed into canned fish, fishmeal and fish oil at its modern factory facilities in Walvis Bay, Namibia.
The cannery of UFE processes pilchard into canned fish as well as hake and snoek into pickled fish, curried fish and smoorsnoek. All canned products are sold under the Ocean Fresh label.

Approximately 95 percent of the canned pilchard, canned pickled fish, canned curried fish and canned smoorsnoek are sold in the South African and Namibian markets.
Certain quantities of canned pilchard are sold to retailers, como por ejemplo Shoprite and Spar under their house brand names.

UFE sells canned fish products, frozen horse mackerel, frozen hake, fresh and frozen oysters as well as various other frozen sea products, fishmeal and fish oil in smaller quantities at its fish shop which is situated at the factory’s main gate. Sales are made to the public at large as well as to wholesalers and retailers at very competitive prices.
United Fishing adheres to sustainability principles in fishing and ensures that all its operations not only comply with current regulations, but continuously strives to improve on its quality management systems, fishing processing and canning operations.
In Namibia this is done through techniques such as individual fishing quotas, monitoring and safeguarding the industry against illegal fishing practices, setting up protected areas, restoring collapsed fisheries, educating stakeholders and the wider public, and developing independent certification programs.
