Russian Fishermen Catch Nearly 260,000 Tons of Aquatic Bioresources Since the Start of 2025

The Federal Agency for Fisheries (Rosrybolovstvo) reports that Russian fishing enterprises have harvested a total of 259,600 tons of aquatic bioresources since the beginning of 2025, as recorded by the agency's industry monitoring system.

Catch Breakdown by Regions:

  • Far Eastern Basin: 233,600 tons

    • Pollock: 135,100 tons
    • Cod: 8,500 tons
    • Pacific Herring: 80,300 tons (an increase of 27,600 tons compared to the same period in 2024)
  • Northern Basin: 11,600 tons

    • Cod: 7,700 tons
    • Haddock: 2,100 tons
  • Western Basin: 2,600 tons (an increase of 45.1% compared to 2024)

    • Sprat: 1,200 tons (up 400 tons from 2024)
    • Baltic Herring: 1,400 tons (up 300 tons from 2024)
  • Azov-Black Sea Basin: 2,500 tons

    • Anchovy: 2,300 tons
  • Volga-Caspian Basin: 4,100 tons (a threefold increase compared to 2024)

    • Sprat: 4,100 tons (up 2,800 tons from 2024)

Open Waters and Foreign Zones:

In the exclusive economic zones of foreign states, international waters, and the open ocean, the Russian fleet harvested 5,200 tons of aquatic bioresources—marking a 76% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
