Landed volumes
Spain
Incoming volumes increased in the case of frozen shortfin mako, frozen and fresh swordfish on Mercamadrid during week 8. Those of frozen albacore, fresh albacore, fresh shortfin mako and fresh blue shark declined.

At Italian ports, during week 8, volumes of albacore, bullet tuna, picked dogfish and swordfish increased.

Prices
Prices of skipjack on the market of Bangkok declined, and stayed at between USD 1,200/t and USD 1,300/t. Indonesian exports were between EUR 1,200/t in sizes below 1.8 kg/pc and EUR 1,330/t in 1.8-3.0 kg/pc.
Spain
In Spain prices of skipjack stayed at EUR 950/t EXW Spain and those of yellowfin at EUR 2,000/t EXW Spain.

On Mercamadrid, during week 8, those of fresh swordfish declined. No important variations have been registered for the rest of tunid and squaliform species.

2.1 United States
Swordfish (Xiphias gladius)
Prices
During the second fortnight of February, the H&G from Central and South America, fresh, 100 lb up, quoted at USD 14.35/kg, C&F Miami (USD 6.50/lb); the H&G from the same origin -50 to 99lb- quoted at USD 13.75/kg (USD 6.25/lb).
The average CIF price of imports of headless and/or fresh gutted swordfish (HS 0302670090, former 0302692049) at US Customs in December was USD 9,588/t. This figure is down 6% on that of the previous month and 1% on that of December 2013. During 2014 the average was USD 9,836, down 3% on those of the previous year.

Markets
In December US imports of fresh swordfish reached 471 tonnes, worth USD 4,516,000 CIF declared at Customs.
These figures show a rise of 21% in volume and 13% in value compared with the previous month, and they are up 65% in volume and 55% in value on those of December 2013.

In the year, imports reported 7,125 tonnes and USD 70,084,000, up 20% in volume and 16% in value on those of 2013.

The main suppliers of fresh headless and/or gutted swordfish during the period were Ecuador, Canada and Panama with 2,048, 1,245 and 844 tonnes respectively.
