Kvaerner is a specialised engineering, procurement and construction company. Kvaerner has decades of experience as an EPC contractor
They are focused on executing some of the world’s most demanding projects
Kvaerner works world wide with oil and gas operators, industrial companies and other engineering and fabrication providers. The company has decades of experience as an EPC contractor, covering a wide range of technologies and solutions. The Kvaerner group has been established to further leverage the experience and expertise built up through project execution over more than 40 years.
In March 2002, the former Kvaerner group and the Aker Maritime group (comprising the oil and gas activities of the wider Aker group) were merged, and started to operate as one company under the name Kvaerner. In 2004, following a restructuring of both Aker and Kvaerner, Aker Kvaerner was established and the parent company of this group – Aker Kvaerner – was listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange. Four years later, Aker Kvaerner changed its name to Aker Solutions.
In 2004, it was amalgamated to the newly formed subsidiary of Aker ASA - Aker Kværner, which was later renamed to Aker Solutions on 3 April 2008.
Kværner re-emerged on 6 May 2011, when the EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) part of Aker Solutions took the Kværner name. The new Kværner company was listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange on 8 July 2011
