Alimentos Prosalud is one of the largest seafood processing and marketing companies in Central America, exporting a wide variety of products to more than 20 countries in Europe and the Americas. Its products include tuna, sardines, mussels, octopus, squid, salmon, prepared foods, sauces for mixing, fishmeal and fish oil.
The company was founded in 1973 in Puntarenas, Costa Rica, getting its former name "Sardimar" from its initial goal of processing and marketing sardines in the Costa Rican market.
In 2011 the company decided to change its name from Sardimar to Alimentos Prosalud, keeping Sardimar as one of its main brands. As a corporation the company has strong growth plans and to get involved into new foods and businesses, including healthy foods in the next few years, therefore a new corporate name will expand its horizon beyond seafood products alone.
