The saneel season ended this week

Sandeel:

The sandeel season ended on June 23. 10 vessels had catches last week, but only 2,600 tonnes until the closing day, compared with 13,350 tonnes the week before when we had some good fishing days.

Of this year's quota of 95,000 tonnes, 13,300 tonnes remain when fishing ended on Thursday 23 June.

North Sea herring:

11 caught with North Sea herring last week yielded 2,590 tonnes in the registration journal. Of this, just under 1,800 tonnes went to consumption. The consumer herring was caught further west in the North Sea in the UK zone and here the average size was around 160 grams. This herring and even larger are attractive in the consumer market. As of today, there are around 27,000 tonnes left on the quota. Most vessels have taken their quotas, but we hope that a few vessels will continue to focus on North Sea herring when larger herring are available in the UK zone.

Mackerel:

Around 1,425 tonnes had been caught from the smallest coastal fleet, most of which has been fished in the north. The catches were taken in different areas from south of Bodø to Andenes. It is reported that the mackerel is scattered and there is a lot of casting to catch it. In the south, mackerel is locked from the Sognefjord to Rogaland. There has been good sales of fresh mackerel.

Blue whiting:

Last week we had around 4,000 tonnes of blue whiting, with the majority, around 3,400 tonnes, coming from three catches in the southern part of the Norwegian Sea. The rest has been taken by the industrial trawlers far to the edge, where 410 tonnes of norwegian pout and 144 tonnes of herring have also been caught.

Horse mackerel:

25 tonnes of horse mackerel were also caught on the east coast this week
