Pulmuone has taken a significant step towards revolutionizing the future of food technology by signing a business agreement with ABB Korea Robotics for “AI Robotics R&D for Cell-Cultured Seafood.”

This collaboration, announced on May 26, aims to enhance competitiveness in the next-generation food sector, specifically focusing on cell-cultured seafood.

Pulmuone is advancing its research and development in cell-cultured seafood, which involves isolating and cultivating cells from live fish. By leveraging the cutting-edge robotics technology of ABB, a global leader in electrification, automation, and digitalization technologies, Pulmuone plans to automate this cultivation process and establish a mass production system, positioning itself at the forefront of the future food tech industry.

Pulmuone expects this strategic technology agreement to bring the world’s first application of AI robotic automation technology to cell-cultured food. The collaboration includes joint R&D on robotic automation of the cell-culturing process, aiming to improve the production efficiency and productivity of cell-cultured seafood through automation. Additionally, the agreement covers the protection of intellectual property for jointly developed technologies and products, ensuring that both companies can safeguard their innovations.

The partnership also involves the mutual use of research facilities and equipment, as well as the exchange of specialized personnel. This comprehensive approach strengthens Pulmuone’s technological competitiveness by combining its specialized cell-culturing technology with ABB’s leading AI robotics technology.

A representative from Pulmuone Technology Institute commented on the collaboration, stating, “By integrating Pulmuone’s specialized cell-culturing technology with ABB’s world-leading AI robotics technology, we expect to enhance our technological competitiveness and create greater synergy in advanced seafood food tech R&D. We aim to accelerate the establishment of an innovative mass production system for sustainable cell-cultured seafood shortly, leading to groundbreaking technological innovations.”
