Amidst Growth in Fishing Production, Exports Sustain Positive Performance

Exports of fishery products for 11 months of 2023 (excluding trade outside the customs area) reached 2.1 million tons, which is 13% more than the 2022 level. In value terms, the increase was 1% - fish and seafood worth $5.2 billion were supplied abroad.

Main directions of fish exports for January-November:
🔹frozen fish – 1.6 million tons (+14% to the 2022 level);
🔹fish fillet and other fish meat (including minced meat) - 202 thousand tons (+1% to the 2022 level)

Russian fishermen are fishing with a stable increase in catch volume compared to last year. Fish production in the country is also growing.
The increase in export supplies occurs without prejudice to the interests of the domestic consumer: ensuring the domestic market is an absolute priority.

To widen the range of offerings, some of the fish and seafood are imported.
Imports of fish products in January-November 2023 amounted to about 547 thousand tons - 10% more than the 2022 level, this volume is worth $2.4 billion, which is at the 2022 level.
Russia imports products from those types of aquatic biological resources that are not mined and/or produced in the country, or are produced in insufficient quantities to meet demand.
