Salmofood has just expanded its Aquaculture Experimental Center (CEA), as part of the company's growth strategy.
A new newly inaugurated room contains 9 ponds of 9 m3 each, adding to the previous one that has 58 m3 in total. This new infrastructure will allow to reach harvest weight sizes and thus be able to experiment with the entire salmon production cycle.

With this experimental center, Salmofood consolidates in the aquaculture market, providing a rapid response to dynamic market changes.
"We want to put our grain of sand to improve efficiency in the use of food, in order to optimize the results, production and costs of salmon farming," said Salmofood commercial manager Ernesto Passalacqua.
The new room has modules for digestibility, water recirculation and photoperiod systems, which will allow in vivo digestibility analysis of both existing inputs and new ingredients. Likewise, it will be focused on evaluating the farming performance of diets formulated with ingredients that obtain the best results in digestibility and palatibility tests will be carried out to evaluate the effect of different additives or inputs on the reception of the animal's food.
“This is the fourth CEA that Vitapro opens, adding value to an increasingly globalized industry. Today we are mainly focused on digestibility tests, functional additives and develop diets that improve the performance and growth of fish,”said Rodrigo Sánchez, head of R&D and leader of the Experimental Center.
Through this expansion, Salmofood anticipates the needs of the market to provide its customers with a complete portfolio of products, using the best formulation strategy, also covering the nutritional requirements of salmon.
