Diversifield Communications announced that it has decided to cancel the fourth edition of Seafood Expo Southern Europe 2015 to be held between 21 and 23 September this year.
In a brief statement, the company said, "Issues related to dates, and the moment the market is going through were the main factors that have influenced this decision."
However, Diversified is not talking about a definitive suspension, but a "re-evaluation of the exhibition format."
Its vice president Liz Plizga thanked the participation of clients in the last three editions and explained, "This decision is taken, based mainly on the response from clients who have expressed their concern about the dates of celebration of this event."
The dates were precisely one of the main drawbacks mentioned by the exhibitors who also were planning to participate in the fair of Vigo, due to the few days between them.
This show came up from an agreement between Alimentaria Exhibitions and the American group Diversified Business Communications. It started as Seafood Barcelona in 2012, and was later renamed Seafood Expo Southern Europe, but has not yet managed to become the alternative to Conxemar fair in southern Europe.
In its latest edition, it achieved a growth of 12 per cent with respect to 2013, and 165 exhibitors.
The first edition of Seafood Barcelona was held in October 2012, with the presence of 134 exhibitors.
