Russian fishermen maintain catch rates: 1.78 million tons have been fished

According to the industry tracking system, Russia's total catch of fish and shellfish as of May 12 amounted to 1.78 million tonnes, 0.8% more than in 2021.

The fishermen of the Far East Fishery Basin increased their catches by 4.7% and reached 1.35 million tons. In particular, the production of pollock increased by 12.4 thousand tons, up to 958.2 thousand tons, herring, by 62.1 thousand tons (40%), up to 216.8 thousand tons. The volume of cod production decreased by 10.7 thousand tons, down to 59.6 thousand tons.

The catch in the Northern Fishing Basin remained almost at the level of the previous year: 184.12 thousand tons. The cod fishery produced 115.7 thousand tons, which is 23.9 thousand tons less than the 2021 level, haddock - 28.5 thousand tons, which is 3.67 thousand tons more than the 2021 level.

    

In the Western Fishery Basin, the catch amounted to 41.57 thousand tons, 11% less than in 2021. The sprat fishery produced 27 thousand tons, Baltic herring - 12.6 thousand tons.

The fishermen of the Azov-Black Sea fishing basin caught 16 thousand tons, 20.5% less than in 2021.

The volume of production in the Volga-Caspian fishing basin amounted to 31.8 thousand tons, 3.5% less than last year.

In the zones of foreign countries, conventional areas and the open part of the World Ocean, the Russian fleet produced 154.6 thousand tons, 18% less than the level of the corresponding period in 2021.
