The government wants to accelerate the green transition in shipping, including the fishing fleet. Innovation Norway has approved the first 112 million for loans and grants for 5 different projects
As part of the crown's measures to help the business community, the government has created an expropriation plan for ships in short sea shipping and a loan plan for ships in short sea shipping and the fishing fleet. The schemes will stimulate green fleet renewal and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from shipping. The money goes towards environmentally friendly investments in the construction of new ships, electrification and the use of energy carriers such as ammonia and LNG.
"Financing ship projects for cargo ships is a challenge. With the new schemes, the government wants good environmental projects to be financed in the cargo fleet, so that we can contribute to further reducing greenhouse gas emissions. I am very pleased that the plans are now being implemented. The support of Innovation Norway is crucial for the projects to be realized, and I hope that the demand for the schemes will be even higher next year, "said Trade and Industry Minister Iselin Nybø.

One of the supported projects is Selvåg Senior AS, which plans to build a new large purse-seine vessel. The ship will be an LNG hybrid with a large battery pack and the possibility of grounding, as well as technical solutions for heat and cold recovery for energy production. Compared to conventional ships, this can contribute to a 42% reduction in greenhouse gases.

Green shipping solutions are important for the fishing fleet and shipping companies in the aquaculture industry, says Fisheries and Seafood Minister Odd Emil Ingebrigtsen.
"Elfrida" the first work boat for salmon farms with electric propulsion for Salmar Farming AS. Siemens has developed and supplied the complete electrical propulsion and control system to the local shipbuilding company, Ørnli Slipp.

Bio Feeder AS - Austevoll municipality in western Norway
Bio Feeder AS will rebuild a newer used feed transport vessel into a combined self-discharge and pre-load transport. The conversion will include a battery pack, installation of ground power systems, electric excavator and cleaning of NOx from the exhaust. After conversion, the measures provide a 27% reduction in CO2 emissions and a 95% reduction in NOx emissions. The company has received 6 million in grants and 18 million in loans.
Mission Ecobulk AS - Bergen municipality in western Norway
Misje is working to develop low-emission and profitable bulk carriers. The company has entered into a contract to build three new hybrid general cargo ships. The new ships will have a modern diesel engine with NOx scrubbing, but also adapted for ammonia. In addition, a large battery pack, a port power system and technical solutions for optimal energy consumption will be installed. The measures provide a 46% reduction in CO2 emissions compared to similar conventional vessels in the Mission's fleet. The company has received a loan of 50 million.

Aasen Shipping AS - Bømlo municipality in western Norway
Through its two subsidiaries, AS Aasen Bulk and Aasen Transport AS, Aasen Shipping AS has invested in two self-unloading vessels. The new ships will have a hybrid propulsion system with a battery pack and shore power system, as well as an electric excavator. Compared to other ships in the shipping company's fleet, these ships will have around 40% less CO2 emissions. The company has received 8 million in loans for the two vessels.
Selvåg Senior AS - Municipality of Meløy in Nordland
Selvåg Senior AS plans to build a new large purse-seine vessel. The ship will be an LNG hybrid with a large battery pack and the possibility of grounding, as well as technical solutions for heat and cold recovery for energy production. Compared to conventional ships, this can contribute to a 42% reduction in greenhouse gases. Selvåg Senior AS is a subsidiary of Sørheim Holding AS. The company has received 30 million in loans.
