Russian investors to build a RAS plant for the cultivation of Atlantic salmon in Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan's Trade Representation in Russia jointly by Kazakh Invest and the Russian Investment Fund (RFC) held online negotiations with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Almas Aidarov, during which it was decided to support the project.

This project is expected to be located in the Khorgos East-Gate Special Economic Zone. According to the presentation presented, the construction of a plant with a capacity of 2.5 thousand tons of products per year is organized by the Tuloma Salmon group of companies. The fish is scheduled to be supplied to the markets of Kazakhstan, Russia and China.
The production will operate with the technology of a closed water supply facility, developed by the Israeli companyAquaMaof.

The cost of the project will be about 16 billion tenge (US$ 36M, editor's note). Of these, 20-25% is invested by RFC, and the remaining funds will be obtained through loan financing.
We add that Kazakhstan maintains a high level of dependence on fish imports, so the Ministry of Agriculture has developed a three-year Comprehensive Plan to Support the Production of this Type of Food, which includes subsidies.
