Prices
The average CIF price of frozen bluefin (HS 030345000 and 030346000) imported by Japan in September was JPY 1,321/kg, down 5% on that of August and similar on that of the September 2018. In the first nine months, the average was JPY 1,376/kg, down 1% on that of the same period in 2018.

Markets
During the month analysed, 3,674 tonnes of frozen bluefin were imported, worth almost JPY 4,854 million, up 31% in volume and 25% in value than in the previous month.
In September Japan received 3,482 t of southern bluefin of Australian origin, at an average price of JPY 1,343/kg.

In the first nine months of the year imports reach 8,432 tonnes and JPY 11,605 million.

In the January-September period Australia sent 7,155 tonnes of frozen bluefin to Japan, worth JPY 8,794 million, followed by Korea (487 t) and Taiwan (479 t).
