This market reports focuses on harvests of seabream, seabass and turbot in the EU, especially in Spain. We also highlight harvests, prices, markets, imports and exports.

Turbot (Psetta maxima), European seabass (Dicentrarchus labrax), gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata)

Production

Spain

On Mercamadrid, incoming volumes of the main aquaculture species declined in September. The most important increases were reported in seabass, and larger seambream was the only one that declined.

During September, incoming volumes on Mercabarna declined in the case of seabass, turbot and seabream; those of croaker increased. The most important drop was reported by seabass.

Prices

Spain

On Mercamadrid, in September, average prices declined slightly in the case of small seabass and seabream due to a rise in supplies. The quotes of medium and large seabream increased due to a higher demnand. Those of medium seabass and turbot also rose, but slightly.

On Mercabarna, prices increased in the case of croaker in September, compared with the previous month, due to a higher demand. Those of seabass, turbot and seabream declined due to the lower demand.
