The fish-farming company Hydroteck AS was established by Leif Inge Karlsen in 1986/87. The mother company Hydrotech Gruppen AS was formed in 1992 as an ownership and administration company. Following purchases of both hatcheries and marine farms, Aakvik Settefisk became a part of Hydrotech Gruppen AS in 2006. At the same time Hydrotech Gruppen AS was taken over by Hallvard Lerøy AS and changed its name to Lerøy Hydrotech AS. Lerøy Hydrotech AS today consists of 24 marine licences, 5 hatchery licences and a harvest/packing plant.
The main offices and harvest/packing plant are at Bentneset in Kristiansund on the West coast of Norway, where the hatcheries and marine farms are also located. Lerøy Hydrotech AS can today be described as a fully integrated company having its own hatcheries, marine farms and harvest/packing unit.
The main aim of Lerøy Hydrotech AS is to control the entire process from the egg stage until the fish leaves the packing plant. Only by being a fully integrated company with highly qualified staff, is one ready to meet the challenges that face the fish farming industry. This has led to Lerøy Hydrotech AS becoming internationally recognized as a producer of high quality salmon and trout.
