The company was founded in 1984 and is based in Goiania, Brazil. As of September 2, 2009, Sementes Selecta Ltda. operates as a subsidiary of Los Grobo Agropecuaria S.A.

In 2013, Corpesca acquired 60% of the property of Selecta, a Brazilian company with more than 25 years of experience in the agro-industry sector, focused mainly on the industrialization and commercialization of soy. In 2015, the subsidiary Corpesca do Brasil acquires an additional 10% of Selecta, thus reaching a 70% stake in the property.
