The cooperative is preparing a structure for fish processing and slaughter, leveraging strategic opportunities in a supply chain propelled by rising global consumption.

The steady increase in farmed fish production and consumption is unlocking significant investment opportunities across the entire supply chain. Coopavel is among the leading agro-industrial cooperatives capitalizing on this trend as it advances the establishment of a specialized processing plant for fish and seafood.

The development of this industrial initiative was highlighted by the president of Coopavel, Dilvo Grolli, during the executive panel "Leaders – Challenges, Perspectives, and Strategies for the Fish Market", hosted at the 8th International Fish Congress & Fish Expo Brazil in Foz do Iguaçu.

The western region of Paraná maintains a prominent position in the farming of Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). Its proximity to major consumer markets and its strategic border location connecting Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina significantly enhance the commercial and logistical importance of this aquaculture sector.

According to Dilvo Grolli, while rising consumption of farmed fish creates strong growth prospects for the entire value chain, it also mandates that production systems adapt to evolving international market standards. Key operational factors including farm management, technical support, and aquatic health monitoring must remain central to managerial decision-making.

Shifting consumer behavior and heightened market expectations are driving the industry toward superior standards of organization, traceability, and operational efficiency. In this scenario, modern slaughtering and processing infrastructure is critical for converting raw production volume into market share. Coopavel's investment in processing facilities expands its footprint in a sector that continues to gain momentum within regional agribusiness.

Under the theme "Strong Aquaculture, Competitive Brazil," the international event convened producers, industry experts, and supply chain representatives to discuss the future of the sector. The 2026 edition brought together approximately 3,000 in-person and virtual participants, 75 exhibitors, and 52 expert speakers from 7 countries, spanning over 30 hours of technical programming.

Fish farming, particularly Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) production, remains one of the primary drivers of agribusiness investment in Paraná. Moving forward, the industry's central challenge lies in transitioning volume growth into a fully structured, efficient, and biosecure operation capable of fulfilling demanding global market specifications.
