The National Association of Industrial Aquaculture Companies and AquaMaof Aquaculture Technologies, a world leader in smart recirculation system technologies for terrestrial aquaculture, have signed a memorandum of cooperation for the development of fish farming.

Currently, several large industrial aquaculture projects are being implemented in Russia using recirculated water supply technology. Trout is already being farmed and, starting in 2023, three Atlantic salmon farming companies (salmon) with a total production volume of up to 10,000 tonnes will be put into operation sequentially at full capacity. In May 2021, the founders of these companies joined in the National Association of Industrial Aquaculture Companies to develop this segment of fish farming in Russia, introduce global environmental standards in the organization of production and participate in the improvement of the sectoral regulatory framework.

Now there are only two national projects for salmon farming, both companies are located on the Kola Peninsula and use a different type of industrial aquaculture: cage farms in the Barents Sea.

In the first half of 2021, the volume of salmon farming in Russia increased 4.8 times compared to the same period last year, up to 14.3 thousand tons, trout - by 6.5%, up to 30 thousand tons. In total, more than 300 companies in the country farm different types of salmon (including chum salmon in the Far East). Salmon farming is one of the key areas of the Strategy for the Development of the Fishing Industry of the Russian Federation until 2030: by this year, according to the forecast, the volume of salmon farming will reach 250 thousand tons.

The memorandum in the framework of the Global Fishery Forum & Seafood Expo Russia 2021 was signed by the director of the Federal Fisheries Agency, Ilya Shestakov, co-founder and director of AquaMaof Aquaculture Technologies for the CIS countries, Leonid Goldstein and executive director of the National Association of Industrial Aquaculture Companies Vladimir Mazanov.

“There is an explosive growth of industrial salmon farming in Russia. In the last five years, their volumes have almost tripled, and their participation in the total production structure has exceeded 30%, which has made it possible to replace a significant part of imports. We hope that in the coming years the national production will cover the main needs of the Russian market for salmon and trout products" said Ilya Shestakov.

Within the framework of this cooperation, AquaMaof will provide comprehensive support in the promotion of modern technologies in the field of industrial aquaculture and their implementation in companies of the Russian Federation, which will meet the constantly growing market demand for food and healthy natural proteins. Said Leonid Goldstein.

“The use of AquaMaof 1's unique RAS technologies, as well as the company's global experience in large-scale industrial aquaculture projects on land, will enable Russian companies to achieve maximum production efficiency and produce healthy products grown in an environmentally friendly environment. ideal, according to world standards ”, commented Vladimir Mazanov.

“The assistance and support of the Federal Fisheries Agency, the use of unique RAS technologies and AquaMaof's experience in terrestrial aquaculture, will allow the association to help create the necessary conditions to attract investment in the production of Atlantic salmon in RAS. , as well as to achieve maximum efficiency and produce healthy products grown in an ideal environment, in accordance with international standards ”, commented Vladimir Mazanov.
