The land-based salmon producer maintained operational rollout in Phase 2 according to plan, laying the foundation for significant harvest growth despite weak market prices impacting second-quarter financial results.

Land-based salmon producer Salmon Evolution ASA (OSE: SALME) reported continued operational progress in Phase 1 and initiated operations in Phase 2 according to plan during Q2 2026, further strengthening the foundation for significant production growth and improving profitability in coming periods.

Despite operational milestones, weak international salmon prices weighed on financial results. The farming segment delivered an EBITDA of -3.0 million NOK (-318,000 US$), bringing the year-to-date figure to 14.6 million NOK (1.55 million US$). Group EBITDA closed at -11.1 million NOK (-1.18 million US$), with YTD figures standing at -1.7 million NOK (-180,000 US$). Farming costs during Q2 fell to approximately 71 NOK/kg (7.53 US$/kg), representing a slight decrease compared to Q1 and a 13% reduction year-on-year.

"With Phase 1 steadily improving and Phase 2 ramping up according to plan, Salmon Evolution is entering a period of substantial growth. We expect production volumes to more than double over the next 12 months, driving better unit economics and profitability. Combined with an expected recovery in salmon prices, this puts us in a good position as we enter what we believe will be one of the most exciting phases in the company’s history," said Trond Håkon Schaug-Pettersen, CEO of Salmon Evolution.

Key Highlights:

  • Weak salmon prices and a backloaded harvest profile impacted Q2 financials.

  • Continued operational progress in Phase 1, with improvements from new feed and operational protocols increasingly visible, although full positive effects remain ahead.

  • Phase 2 ramp-up and operation according to plan, with the third smolt release completed in July.

  • On track for substantial production growth and improving unit economics over the next 12 months. The company plans to release a combined 2.8 million smolt across Phases 1 and 2 in 2026, up 65% from 2025.
