Daryl Gormley to discuss future of surimi seafood, building on viral social media trends and a new focus on consumer convenience.
SEATTLE, WA — Daryl Gormley, the CEO of Aquamar, will be the keynote speaker at the Wild Alaska Pollock Annual Meeting on September 18. The Association of Genuine Alaska Pollock Producers (GAPP) announced Gormley will address the audience on the future of surimi seafood, focusing on how the industry must adapt to change how consumers view and consume seafood.
Gormley's address comes at a time when Aquamar is credited with capitalizing on recent viral social media food trends, such as surimi seafood "crab" boil mukbang and cucumber surimi seafood salad, to significantly increase awareness and consumption of Wild Alaska Pollock surimi seafood in the U.S.
Bringing a wealth of experience from leadership roles at major food companies like Sara Lee, Kraft, and Frito-Lay, Gormley is seen as a visionary leader for the industry. GAPP CEO Craig Morris expressed eagerness to hear Gormley's insights on how the seafood sector can learn from other commodities to better position surimi for the future.
The annual meeting, which is exclusively for those connected to the Wild Alaska Pollock industry, will also feature a comprehensive Wild Alaska Pollock Fishery and Trade Update from GAPP's Director, Ron Rogness. GAPP partners will provide updates on their program successes, and the new class of participants for GAPP's Partnership Program will be announced.
The event will be hosted at the W Hotel in downtown Seattle.
