Seafood supply chain heroes’ chance to shine as nominations open for MSC and ASC Awards 2026

The annual sustainability accolades introduce new categories of "MSC UK Fishmonger of the Year" and "ASC UK Farmer of the Year" to recognize leadership and innovation in the sector.

LONDON — The UK’s leading fish farmers and sustainable fishmongers will be battling it out alongside their seafaring, supplier and supermarket colleagues as nominations open today for the country’s foremost seafood awards.

The two new additions to the annual awards, now in their 13th year and run jointly by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) UK and Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) UK, recognise critical roles in the growing market for certified seafood.

The MSC UK Fishmonger of the Year award is open to any business, large or small, that operates on the high street or online and reflects the growing consumer appetite for specialist retailers – particularly via e-commerce.

Meanwhile, the men and women striving to be the best in British aquaculture can compete for the title of ASC UK Farmer of the Year by proving their commitment to drive innovation in seafood farming every day.

On the back of a year in which certified sustainable seafood sales soared, George Clark, MSC UK & Ireland Programme Director, said the MSC are looking forward to rewarding the individuals and businesses at the forefront of this progressive future.

“Change is happening across the supply chain from the ocean to the plate, and the MSC’s UK Awards provide the perfect showcase for all those who are working tirelessly to catch, process, deliver, sell and serve the best sustainable seafood.

“Fishmongers, both online and in-store, are our trusted shop window into seafood and I’m delighted that we’ll now be acknowledging the very best in this category,” said George Clark.

The MSC UK and ASC UK annual awards are the showcase event of the year to celebrate businesses and individuals working to offer consumers certified seafood from healthy stocks and well-managed farms.

Nominations are open until 21 August 2026. Following a rigorous judging process, the winners will be announced in October 2026.

Maud van den Haspel, ASC General Manager for the UK and Benelux, said:

“These awards celebrate the people and organisations whose commitment and ambition are helping drive positive change across seafood farming.

“Farmers are the foundation of the ASC programme. Introducing a Farmer of the Year award is an important way of recognising the people whose commitment and innovation are helping move seafood farming forward. Their achievements deserve to be celebrated, and we hope their stories will inspire others to follow,” said Maud van den Haspel.

There are now 18 categories in total – 13 MSC and six ASC, and consumers will again have the chance to have their say with a public vote for each organisation’s Product of the Year award via online voting platforms at MSC and ASC.

Among the standout winners in 2025, Tesco was crowned MSC UK Supermarket of the Year while Sainsbury’s won the ASC UK Retailer of the Year award.

今年で13回目を迎え、海洋管理協議会（MSC）英国と水産養殖管理協議会（ASC）英国が共同で運営するこの年次アワードに新たに加わった2つの部門は、拡大を続ける認証水産物市場において極めて重要な役割を果たしているプレイヤーを称えるものです。

MSC英国フィッシュモンガー・オブ・ザ・イヤー賞は、実店舗またはオンラインで運営されている規模の大小を問わないすべての事業者を対象としており、特に電子商取引（EC）を通じて専門小売店に対する消費者の需要が高まっていることを反映しています。

一方、英国の水産養殖においてトップを目指して努力している男女は、水産養殖における日々のイノベーション推進へのコミットメントを証明することで、ASC英国ファーマー・オブ・ザ・イヤーの称号を競うことができます。

認証された持続可能な水産物の売上が急増した1年を背景に、MSC英国＆アイルランドのプログラム・ディレクターであるジョージ・クラーク氏は、MSCがこの進歩的な未来の最前線に立つ個人や企業を表彰することを楽しみにしていると述べました。

「海から皿に至るサプライチェーン全体で変化が起きており、MSCの英国アワードは、最高の持続可能な水産物を漁獲、加工、配送、販売、提供するために飽くなき努力を続けているすべての人々を紹介する完璧な舞台を提供します。

実店舗とオンライン双方の鮮魚店は、水産物に対する信頼できるショーウィンドウであり、この部門で最優秀のプレイヤーを称えることができるようになったことを大変嬉しく思います」と、ジョージ・クラーク氏は語りました。

MSC英国およびASC英国の年次アワードは、健康的な資源と適切に管理された養殖場から得られた認証水産物を消費者に提供するために取り組む企業や個人を称える、年間で最も注目されるイベントです。

推薦は2026年8月21日まで受け付けられます。厳正な審査を経て、受賞者は2026年10月に発表されます。

ASCの英国およびベネルクス地域担当ゼネラルマネージャーであるモード・ファン・デン・ハスペル氏は、次のように述べました。

英国伦敦 — 英国领先的养殖户和可持续鱼商将与捕捞、供应及超市行业的同仁们展开激烈角逐，因为该国最瞩目的海产品大奖于今日正式开启提名。

该年度奖项今年已步入第13个年头，由海洋管理委员会（MSC）英国与水产养殖管理委员会（ASC）英国联合主办。此次新增的两个奖项，旨在表彰在日益增长的认证海产品市场中发挥关键作用的杰出代表。

MSC英国年度鱼商奖面向在实体街区或线上运营的任何规模（无论大小）的企业开放，这反映了消费者对专业零售商（尤其是通过电子商务）日益增长的需求。

与此同时，致力于在英国水产养殖业中争创佳绩的男男女女，可以通过证明其在日常海产品养殖中推动创新做出的承诺，来争夺ASC英国年度养殖户的桂冠。

在认证可持续海产品销量激增的一年背景下，MSC英国及爱尔兰项目总监乔治·克拉克表示，MSC期待着表彰那些站在这一进步未来最前沿的个人和企业。

“从海洋到餐桌的整个供应链正在发生变革，而MSC的英国大奖为所有不懈努力捕捞、加工、配送、销售和供应优质可持续海产品的从业者提供了完美的展示舞台。

无论是线上还是线下的鱼商，都是我们了解海产品值得信赖的窗口，我很高兴我们现在将对该类别中的佼佼者给予表彰。”乔治·克拉克表示。

MSC英国与ASC英国年度大奖是年度盛事，旨在表彰致力于向消费者提供源自健康种群和管理良好养殖场的认证海产品的企业和个人。

提名截止日期为2026年8月21日。经过严格的评审程序后，获奖名单将于2026年10月公布。

ASC英国及比荷卢联盟总经理莫德·范·登·哈斯佩尔表示：

由消费者投票选出的2025年MSC英国年度产品，由维特罗斯（Waitrose）凭借其No.1 蒜香沙当妮白葡萄酒贻贝（No.1 Moules Marinière with Wild Garlic & Chardonnay）夺得，该产品采用在设得兰群岛捕捞的绳索养殖贻贝制成。
