Specific Licence Changes

According to current proposals, A-licence adjudications are projected to decrease marginally from 22.83 Vessel Units (VU) to 22.76 VU, translating to a reduction of approximately four to four and a half fishing days across the entire fleet. While a marginal increase in TAC for the hake fishery has been proposed, it is offset by larger recommended reductions in TACs for most other finfish species.

Conversely, G-licence adjudications are projected to increase from 10.14 VU to 10.65 VU, primarily reflecting an increase in the proposed TAC for Illex squid. The Committee acknowledged that due to Illex having a one-year lifespan, biomass fluctuate significantly annually, leading to inherent volatility in G-licence allocations.

Adjudications for W-licences are anticipated to decline from 6.07 VU to 5.61 VU, following recommendations for lower TACs across all permissible species, except for rock cod.
