'Mechanic Sizov' will be able to catch up to 60 thousand tons of fish per year

On July 25, at the Admiralty Shipyards in St. Petersburg, a large, state-of-the-art freezer trawler Mechanic Sizov was launched. The ceremony was attended by the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin.
The vessel is being built for the Russian Fishery Company under the investment quota program. The keel was laid on June 30, 2020 and the trawler is scheduled to be delivered in 2022.

“The program is developing: the launch of future ships continues, and the first trawlers have already joined the Far East and North Basin fleet. Modern vessels will ensure the achievement of new results in the fishery. And what is no less important, this is a fundamentally different level of safety and comfort for the crews", commented the head of the Federal Fisheries Agency, Ilya Shestakov.

The supertrawler is named after the honorable veteran of the fishing fleet, Chief Engineer Vladimir Abramovich Sizov (1936-2013), who has spent more than 30 years working in the fishing fleet. For military and labor merits he was awarded nine state awards, as well as the badge "Honorary Fisheries Worker of Russia".

The mechanic Sizov will become one of the largest and most technologically rich Russian fishing vessels. She will be able to catch up to 60 thousand tons of fish per year, more than double the current productivity of the ships in the Far East fleet.
