Anchovy fishing season has an advance of 13% of the assigned quota in just 13 days

The landing of 319,090 tons of anchovy of the 2.4 million authorized has been registered -This season officially began on May 13
During the first 13 days of the first 2020 fishing season in the north-central zone, which began on May 13, a landing of 319,090 tonnes of anchovy was recorded, a figure that represents 13.22% of the assigned catch quota, reported the Ministry of Production (Produce).
It should be noted that the assigned quota for this season reaches 2.4 million MT.

The ministry detailed that anchovy discharges in the last eight days registered an average rate of 31,254 tons per day. Being the ports of Chimbote, Malabrigo, Coishco, Callao, Tambo de Mora and Carquín those that register the highest volumes of discharge.
The discharges of the resource were made by 221 industrial fishing vessels that were inspected by Produce at the discharge control points and weighing hoppers.
Undersize at 7.2%
The percentage of specimens with sizes less than 12 centimeters, captured during this period, is 7.2% expressed in number of specimens.
Similarly, Produce reported that the preventive closure of 18 fishing areas has been carried out based on the information obtained through the “Electronic Logbook” application, and biometric sampling during unloading.
These closings occurred mainly in the Lima and Ica regions, in front of Paramonga, Supe, Huacho, Ancón, Callao, Villa el Salvador, San Bartolo, Pucusana, Cerro Azul, Mala, Asia, Cañete and Paracas.
Finally, he maintained that the preventive closings seek to ensure the sustainability of the anchovy resource in the country.
