Cooperative processes 54.2 million kilograms in Paraná and strengthens domestic and international markets

The cooperative C.Vale reported strong growth in its fish farming operations in 2025, highlighting an expected increase of nearly 14% in slaughter volume compared to the previous year. The results were presented by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Alfredo Lang, during the company Ordinary General Meeting.

Through its integrated production system, 275 fish farmers delivered 50.8 million tilapia to the cooperative. Performance in the initial production phases also stood out, with the cultivation of 78.1 million fingerlings and 60.6 million juveniles.

Production activities covered 1,114 hectares of water surface, distributed across 1,343 excavated ponds and 500 net cages, spanning 21 municipalities.

Industrial processing followed the same upward trend. The meat processing plants located in Palotina and Nova Prata do Iguaçu, in the state of Paraná, processed 54.2 million kilograms of tilapia, representing a 13.97% increase over 2024. From this volume, the cooperative produced 22 million kilograms of finished products.

Of the total output, 73% was directed to the domestic market, with the main destinations being Paraná, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Santa Catarina, and Minas Gerais. Internationally, the cooperative expanded shipments to the United States, Thailand, Taiwan, Canada, and Spain.

The year also marked record-breaking slaughter figures. On July 31, the slaughterhouse in Palotina achieved a historic milestone of 225,459 fish processed in a single day. In Nova Prata do Iguaçu, a record of 12,941 fish was registered on August 25.

According to Alfredo Lang (pictured), the results reinforce the strategic importance of diversification within the cooperative’s operations. “The performance highlights the strength of integration between producers and the cooperative, while confirming the strategic role of fish farming in diversifying activities and generating income for our members,” he stated.
