The director of ProChile, Alejandro Buvinic, is visitng Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), with a view to strengthening the work carried out by Chile in that market.
During his visit, the ProChile authority will visit the Gulfood Fair, the annual food and drink fair that has positioned itself as the largest in the world, and which involves more than 5,000 companies from 120 countries.
In recent years, Chile, through its Commercial Office in Dubai, has implemented a powerful strategy of commercial deepening in the United Arab Emirates through strategic alliances and direct contact with sector authorities for the phytosanitary opening of new food products. It has also developed a strong promotion agenda to continue making it known Chile´s varied exportable offer, and to diversify and introduce new products to the basket bought by the UAE.
All this effort has paid off. Shipments that do not charge from the UAE from Chile grew by 42 percent in 2017, where exports of walnuts (270 percent), almonds (241 percent), salmon (7 percent), fresh grapes (13 percent), and red wine stand out (170 percent), avocados (1.122 percent), dehydrated plums (18 percent) and wines (44 percent), among others.
"In all of these subsectors, the Commercial Office of Chile in Dubai has carried out a thorough work with both the authorities and Chilean exporters and importers interested in selling their products in the market. All this work has contributed, along with the responsible work of the business sector, that Chile is the third economy in South America that exports the most to the UAE, " explains the director of ProChile.
Dubai is the commercial gateway to the other countries that make up the UAE (Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai, Fujaira, Ras al-Haima, Sarja and Umm al-Qaywayn) and into the Persian Gulf.
