The catch of pelagic fish species has become a record for the past 20 years

According to the FSBI CSMS, the total catch of iwashi sardine, mackerel and saury by Russian users as of November 29 totaled 353.02 thousand tons, which is 168.6 thousand tons more than last year (191.37% of the level of 2019 ). The pelagic fishing season in the exclusive economic zone of Russia is almost over and its results have become record-breaking over the past 20 years.
In the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) of Russia, the catch amounted to 336.9 thousand tons, which is 173.02 thousand tons more than last year (205.58% of the level of 2019), 3.1 thousand tons were harvested on the high seas , in the EEZ of Japan - 12.99 thousand tons.
The catch by species was: Iwashi sardine - 310.38 thousand tons (+179.52 thousand tons, or 237.18% of the level of 2019), mackerel - 41.89 thousand tons (-9.32 thousand tons , or 81.8%), saury - 744.57 tons (- 1,658.29 tons, or 30.99%).
Fishing in the Russian EEZ is almost complete, but will continue in the Japanese EEZ as well as in the open ocean. The territorial administrations of Rosrybolovstvo were instructed to hold meetings with fishing companies to organize optimal work for the extraction of pelagic fish species.
