Import of frozen octopus, up 33% from the previous year

In November 2020, frozen octopus imports amounted to 465 tons, up 11 % from 349 tons a year earlier, while cumulative imports in November totaled 3,123 tons, down 31 % from 4,523 tons a year earlier.
The average November import volume from 2015 to 2020 was 475 tons, down 2 % from 465 tons in 2020.
The main frozen octopus exporting countries are 16, including Mauritania, Indonesia, the Philippines, China, Madagascar, Venezuela, Senegal, Mexico, Peru, Vietnam, and 61% (1,907 tons) of the total volume were from Mauritania, 11% ( 330 tons) have been from Indonesia, 8% (225 tons) from China, 7% (210 tons) from Madagascar and Venezuela with 6% (172 tons).
The average import unit price per country was the highest in Mauritania USD 8.11/kg and the lowest in U.S.A, USD 2.60/kg.
The amount of frozen octopus imports in November 2020 was USD 3.33 million, up 25 % from USD 2.66 million in the previous year, and the average import price in November was USD 7.16/kg, down 6 % from USD 7.61/kg in the previous year.
