Russian Total Catch of Aquatic Resources Exceeds 4.1 Million Tons

Russia is approaching the 4.2 million tons mark in its total catch of aquatic bioresources, according to the industry monitoring system of the Federal Agency for Fisheries (Rosrybolovstvo).

The catch by all Russian users has reached a total of 4,189.6 thousand tons.

Results by Basin and Region

Below are the detailed catch results by basin, highlighting key species and changes compared to the 2024 level:

  • Far Eastern Basin: The most productive basin, with a total catch of 3,249.9 thousand tons. Key catches include:

    • Pollock: 1,960.4 thousand tons (+122 thousand tons compared to 2024).

    • Pacific Herring: 485.7 thousand tons (+125.8 thousand tons compared to 2024).

    • Pacific Salmon: 335.4 thousand tons (+100.3 thousand tons compared to 2024).

    • Cod: 103.6 thousand tons (+6.0 thousand tons compared to 2024).

    • Far Eastern Flounder: 63.2 thousand tons (+5.0 thousand tons compared to 2024).

  • Northern Basin: The total catch in this basin was 290.5 thousand tons. The main species are:

    • Cod: 147.5 thousand tons.

    • Haddock: 50.5 thousand tons.

  • Western Basin: This basin reported a total catch of 62.8 thousand tons. Highlighted species include:

    • Sprat (Kilka): 34.2 thousand tons.

    • Baltic Herring (Salak): 20.9 thousand tons.

  • Azov-Black Sea Basin: The catch reached 37.5 thousand tons, which represents an increase of +9.7 thousand tons compared to the 2024 level.

    • Anchovy: 13.5 thousand tons (+3.9 thousand tons compared to 2024).

  • Volga-Caspian Basin: The total catch was 63.3 thousand tons, with a slight increase of +0.8 thousand tons compared to the 2024 level.

    • Sprat: 22.8 thousand tons (+1.8 thousand tons compared to 2024).

    • Ordinary fish species: 13.9 thousand tons.

Fishing in International Waters

The Russian fleet also reported significant production in external zones:

  • In the exclusive economic zones of foreign states, conventional areas, and the open part of the World Ocean, the Russian fleet produced 450.8 thousand tons.

  • This figure is 10.7 thousand tons or 2.5% higher than the figure recorded in the corresponding period in 2024.
