The organization advocates for ports as guarantors of the 'level playing field' and sustainability, aligning with the FAO Blue Ports strategy.

ANFACO-CYTMA has highlighted the crucial role of ports as guarantors of socioeconomic standards and ocean sustainability globally.

The participation took place during the "Blue Ports" session of the International Conference of Fishing Communities (ICFC 2025), held from November 9 to 12 in Incheon, South Korea, attended by over 3,000 participants from governments and international organizations. ANFACO-CYTMA participated as a representative of the industrial sector.

During their address, the organization presented the paper titled "Assessing the Impact of Fishing Ports on Sustainable Tuna Industry Development". In it, they conveyed the industry's vision and analyzed how ports play a key role in ensuring that all fish, using tuna as the product par excellence, rigorously comply with regulations.

It was emphasized that raw material is a primary element of competitiveness and that European regulation against Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) Fishing is essential to guarantee fair competition in the markets and contribute to resource sustainability. ANFACO-CYTMA underscored that ports are decisive in ensuring a "level playing field" for the industry, strengthening consumer confidence and the sector's future stability.

The "Blue Ports" session, co-organized by the FAO and the Korea Fisheries Infrastructure Promotion Agency (FIPA), aimed to share international experiences. It featured participation from representatives of the FAO, FIPA, the Korean Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF), and experts from countries like Argentina, Indonesia, and Morocco.

With this participation, ANFACO-CYTMA reinforces the global projection of the Spanish and European processing industry in a critical area for its future, especially in the fight against unfair competition, promoting knowledge and cooperation.
