The Organización de Palangreros Guardeses pushes for mass market sales of frozen swordfish tacos and burgers while expanding its cold storage capacity in Tui to 5,000 tonnes to stabilize the market.
Tui – The Organización de Palangreros Guardeses (Orpagu) is attending the international trade fair Conxemar, held in Vigo from October 7 to 9, with a clear goal: to open the doors of the retail channel to its prepared swordfish products—tacos and burgers—following the success achieved through its online store and the Horeca (hotels, restaurants, and catering) channel.
These new products, designed to adapt to modern household realities, are packaged in 350-gram portions, an ideal serving size for two people. They address the shift in average household size and the growing demand for healthy, versatile, and easy-to-prepare seafood options.

New Cold Storage Capacity to Stabilize Prices
Leading up to Conxemar, Orpagu hosted a guided tour of its cold storage plant in Tui, where it announced a key expansion project.
The organization is constructing a new storage chamber, which will be completed by the end of the year in the Tui industrial park. Thanks to this investment, Orpagu will increase its storage capacity from the current 3,000 tonnes to 5,000 tonne

Orpagu's President, Joaquín Cadilla, emphasized that this capacity increase not only guarantees commercial expansion but will also allow the organization to stabilize market prices for swordfish and other species. By being able to store larger volumes for longer periods, the organization can better plan sales and respond more flexibly to fluctuations in supply and demand.
"The market reception has been very positive and confirms we are moving in the right direction. Now we want these products to reach the general public through traditional distribution," said Cadilla, noting that Conxemar will be the perfect showcase to establish alliances with the main distribution chains across Spain.
