Will the Argentine government take the initiative to intervene and investigate the actions of the Federal Fisheries Council?

The 'Fishing Caste' and its Disinformation Strategies: Analysis from the Seafood Expo Global

An Argentine fishing sector news outlet initiates an apparent premature smear campaign against the new representative on the Federal Fisheries Council, omitting the complex history of Argentine fishing policy.

The recent Seafood Expo Global in Barcelona not only generated extensive debate in the sector, as Nelson Saldivia rightly points out in Parte de Pesca, but also highlighted a worrying dynamic noted by the same outlet: the presence of the designated representative of the National Executive Power on the Federal Fisheries Council (CFP).

However, Parte de Pesca's coverage of this event dedicated a substantial portion of its content to a smear campaign, evidently intentional and negative in tone, directed at a figure who has not yet formally assumed office and whose specific plans or mandate for the Argentine fishing sector are still unknown. The rhetorical question posed in its headline, "Who is the brand-new 'iron lady' of the Federal Fisheries Council?", anticipates a biased approach rather than an objective description.

It is striking that the Parte de Pesca article deliberately omits an analysis of the internal workings of the Federal Fisheries Council over the years. Nor does it mention the numerous "agreements" and the "distribution of funds" that have historically marked fishing activity in Argentina. Likewise, it ignores the influence and strategies of the provincial "political dealings" and some of its representatives, whose objective has often been to obtain economic benefits through licenses, often concealed through figureheads or close associates.

From FIS (SeafoodMediaGroup), our commitment is to offer a complete and balanced view. In this regard, we propose to investigate and make known the official position of the Argentine government and its future plans for the fishing sector, providing professionals with the necessary information for a deep understanding of the current landscape.
