The Spanish company Jealsa Rianxeira aims to lead the canned fish sector in Brazilian territory by building a 100,000 square metre plant and generating a thousand jobs.
The relationship between the European company and the Brazilian government is very narrow, as it has been evidenced by the fact that it has been invited to join Ciudad de la Pesca, a project that was born with the purpose of boosting the sector.
"We could not find a better company than this one," the head of the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture (MPA) from Brazil, Eduardo Lopes, pointed out.
"I’ve just visited two of its canneries and I am very happy to see that, if investments are performed sensibly, the result is more than satisfactory," the minister added during a visit to the town A Pobra in Coruña, Galicia.
"We want this for Brazil, and we have all the raw material and we are investing a lot of money to renew the fleet. So, when we think of a business group to market what we produce, the name Jealsa Rianxeira immediately appeared. And now that I have personally got to know its working method, I'm more than satisfied," he continued explaining.
Lopes observed the canning and cartoning process the Spanish firm conducts in its two canning plants in Barbanza. Jealsa´s owner, Jesus Alonso, commented every detail of the process and expressed the "dream" that the new project in Brazil generates, the newspaper La Voz de Galicia informed.
"We trust in this successful model, from which we are learning a lot. Moreover, they will find it helpful to keep growing," the Brazilian minister said.
Jealsa Rianxeira entered Brazil in 2010 through Crusoe Foods canning company with an initial investment of about EUR 20 million.
