Alagoas commits to international technical cooperation to boost aquaculture and fisheries

Through the Secretariat of Agriculture, Fisheries and Aquaculture (SEAPA), the Government of Alagoas is devising a project on international technical cooperation in the fisheries-aquaculture sector of this state in northeastern Brazil.
This initiative aims to develop fisheries and aquaculture, with investments for local producers and fishermen.
Entities and organizations related to fisheries and aquaculture are also involved in developing this project.
The Government of Alagoas was associated with the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) and the Brazilian Cooperation Agency (ABC) to start up this initiative, reported Agência Alagoas.
During the project presentation Seapa representatives met with those of IICA, the Brazilian Institute for Development and Sustainability (IABS), the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture (MPA) and the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (EMBRAPA).
The working groups that will make proposals for the development of the overall project were defined.
According to the deputy secretary of Agriculture, Fisheries and Aquaculture, Carlos Henrique, "aquaculture and fisheries will gain an economic boost with the implementation of the project".
The objective of the Government of Alagoas reiterated its commitment to continue working to promote investment and improve the local economy.
