As the NVG herring season draws to a close, the North Sea herring fishery has been characterised by poor weather and sporadic fishing.
NVG herring:
The end of this year's NVG herring season is slowly but surely approaching. The total quota of 251,760 tonnes has now been fished and most are in the process of finishing this year's quota. The smallest fleet is also approaching the end of this year's quotas and there are approx. 1,500 tonnes left at the direct pumps now. Last week, a total of 10,332 tonnes of NVG herring were reported, and it is expected that the fishery in Kvænangen will end before the weekend.

Mackerel:
450 tonnes of mackerel were reported from the sea last week, from two Norwegian boats. And two vessels caught 22 tonnes inland.
North Sea herring:
1,425 tonnes of North Sea herring have been reported for consumption and 900 tonnes for fishmeal/oil. Bad weather and challenging fishing conditions have affected the North Sea herring fleet's fishing and fishing has been scattered. There are now 13,196 tonnes of this year's quota of 149,601 tonnes remaining and it is expected that fishing will continue in the coming weeks, depending on weather and fishing conditions.
Blue whiting:
1,870 tonnes of blue whiting were also reported from a foreign boat.
