Indonesian raw shrimp prices fell in the middle of May

Prices at raw Indonesian vannamei shrimp ponds decreased in regions such as East Java, West Nusa Tenggara and Aceh during week 19
Shrimp prices in East Java fell to IDR 93,000/kg (U$D 6.32) and IDR 88,000/kg (U$D 5.98) for sizes of 30 and 40 heads/kg; IDR 73,000/kg (U$D 4.96) with a size of 60 fish; IDR 65,000/kg (U$D 4.41) and IDR 54,000/kg (U$D 3.67) in sizes 80 and 100 fish/kg.

In USD average terms, shrimp prices reached 6.37 USD/kg and 6.03 USD/kg with sizes of 30 and 40 shrimp/kg; 5 USD/kg for size 60 and 4.45 USD/kg and 3.70 USD/kg for 80 and 100 fish/kg. Shrimp prices in shrimp farming areas in West Nusa Tenggara and Aceh also fell across all sizes.
The Vannamei shrimp, which is also called as whiteleg shrimp, can grow up to 230 millimeters and their habitat is in the depth of ocean up to 236 feet. As an important shrimp commodity, the whiteleg shrimp is harvested in both wild ocean or taken from shrimp farms. The major producers for such shrimp are mostly Asian developing countries like Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Philippine, and so on. The shrimp is a major financial income for their countries along with other marine commodities like fish and seaweed.
