Salmon prices remain good but salmon imports fall in Korea

Fresh salmon imports fell by 24% in April
A total of 10,721 tons of fresh salmon were imported to Korea by April 2022, a decrease of 24% compared to 14,088 tons in the same period in 2021.
Imports amounted to USD 116.85 million in 2022, an increase of 25% from USD 93.82 million in 2020.
The average unit price was USD 10.9/kg, a 64% increase compared to USD 6.66/kg in the previous year.
10,499 tons were imported from Norway, accounting for 98% of the total volume, 199 tons from Australia,
14 tons from the UK, 6 tons from New Zealand and 3 tons from Chile.
The unit price was USD 10.89/kg in Norway, USD 10.56/kg in Australia, USD 17.86/kg in the UK.
In April 2022 salmon was imported from 5 countries (Norway, UK, Chile, Australia and New Zealand).
