The Xunta de Galicia's seal of quality 'pescadeRías', which covers Galician seafood products from artisanal fisheries, was chosen by the European Commission as an example of good practices financed by the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF).
The Ministry of Fisheries of Galicia emphasizes that this recognition of the FAME Support Unit highlights the value of this brand that proves the identification of artisanal fisheries and shellfish products with a high level of freshness and that are marketed by companies located in Galicia.
The distinction is materialized in a video published by the European Union (EU) in which the objectives of the seal and the typology of the products and agents that it encompasses are shown, making a journey along the path followed by artisanal fisheries products from its extraction until consumption.
'pescadeRias' guarantees that all labeled products coming from shellfishing or inshore fishing that are landed daily in the ports of Galicia. They all have, therefore, less than 24 hours out of the sea at the time of their first sale. In addition, the harvesting methods used are respectful with the environment in order to achieve sustainable fishing thinking of future generations.

The quality mark 'pescadeRías' covers all the links of the marketing chain, that is, producers, auctioneers, purifiers, distributors and restaurants.
The FAME Support Unit is the office for monitoring and evaluation of fisheries and aquaculture within the framework of the EMFF. Its objective is to promote the development of the Common Monitoring and Evaluation System related to structural funds and supports the European Commission and the EU countries in this field.
It also has among its aims the creation of capacity between the Member States and the Commission on evaluation and monitoring methodologies, indicators and good practices. Thus, it provides support through working documents, reports, stories that present good projects, workshops, presentations, needs assessments and training courses.
