Mackerel fishing is underway in the north, while the North Sea herring has been affected by the north wind.

Mackerel fishing in the north has officially started, and Kapella was the first boat out, which at the weekend brought in 2 catches for Lofoten Viking of 15 tonnes and 2 tonnes. There has also been some mackerel fishing in the south by the smallest fleet, but with less activity at the weekend. A total of 149 tonnes of mackerel were registered last week.
North Sea herring

As regards North Sea herring, a total of 11,705 tonnes have been registered. The fishing has been challenging, and although there was a slight hitch on Thursday, the northerly wind that came over the fields at the weekend has led to a decrease in the number of boats on the field. Having said that, the herring is now a bit bigger, and more is consumed. The forecasts nevertheless show that the northerly wind will continue for a few more days, so we can hope that the change in weather towards the weekend will improve the fishing.
Sandeel

The sandeel fishery is still sluggish, with only 1,940 tonnes registered. Several boats lie on the edge and tow, but there is not much to report from there.
Blue Whiting

1,403 tonnes of Blue whiting have also been fished.
