Frozen mackerel, 74% imported from Norway

In August 2020, frozen mackerel imports amounted to 1,908 tons, down 18 % from 2,336 tons a year earlier.
The cumulative import volume reached 29,304 tons in August, up 4 % from 28,227 tons a year earlier.
In the last six years (from 2015 to 2020), the average import volume in August was about 1,137 tons, an increase of about 68% compared to the import volume of 1,908 tons in August this year.
There are a total of seven exporting countries of frozen mackerel to Korea, including Norway, Russia, China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea and Iceland.
Accumulated August imports included about 21,638 tons from Norway, 5,190 tons from Russia, 2,174 tons from China, 158 tons from Taiwan, 90 tons from Japan and 54 tons from Korea.
In August 2020, frozen mackerel imports amounted to USD 3.87 million, down about 20% from USD 4.83 million a year earlier, and the average unit price of imported mackerel is USD 2.03/kg, down 1.9% from USD 2.07/kg in the previous year.
