Tomorrow the first fishing season 2020 of the anchovy (Engraulis ringens) and white anchovy (Anchoa nasus) resource corresponding to the north-central zone will conclude, when 97.96% of the maximum allowed limit has already been caught.
This season began on May 13, with an available quota of 2'413,000 tons, 17.4% higher than the provisions of the similar stage in 2019.
The disembarkation to date is 2,363,858 tons, the main unloading ports being: Bayóvar (Piura), Malabrigo, Coishco, Chimbote, Samanco, Supe, Vegueta, Carquín, Chancay, Callao and Tambo de Mora.
According to RM 263-2020- PRODUCE, the resource must be downloaded within 24 hours after the end of the season. Processing must be done within 48 hours of completion.
The wild bluefin tuna fishery in southwestern Spain, which has a 3,000-year history dating back to ancient Roman times, will soon welcome a new catch.

Japanese scallops, known as hotate, are highly accredited for their flavor, size, and quality. Aiming to expand the international market for hotate, the Japan Scallop Export Promotion Association (J-Hotate) will present Japanese scallops at the 2024 Seafood Expo Global event in Barcelona, at the end of April.
According to J-Hotate, the Japanese scallop industry is unique compared to other parts of the world in that the proximity of fishing grounds and ports allows for scallops to be processed and distributed immediately after they are caught.

Cecilie Myrseth was appointed Minister of Fisheries and Oceans on 16 October 2023. She has been a parliamentary representative for Troms since 2017 and a member of the central board of the Labor Party since 2019.
The Minister of Fisheries and Oceans is responsible for implementing the government’s policy relating to fisheries, aquaculture, seafood, maritime policy and coastal development, port and sea transport policy, shipping, as well as marine and maritime research and development.
