The announcement of this Stratos milestone coincides with Inmarsat reaching its sales plateau of 12,000 FleetBroadband activations worldwide.
Stratos milestone of 5,500 FleetBroadband activations encompasses all major geographic regions and vessel types, from customers including Wallem Shipmanagement, Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement, Varun Shipping Co., MISC Berhad, Albacora Group, MPC Steamship and the Royal Netherlands Navy. A significant portion of Stratos first 5,500 FleetBroadband activations were sold via Stratos Channel Partners.

Following the successful launch of its third I-4 satellite on 18 August 2008, Inmarsat has repositioned the I-4 constellation in order to optimise the network and deliver global coverage.
The new global I-4 satellite regions are:
I-4 Americas - from 98 degrees West
I-4 EMEA - from 25 degrees East
I-4 Asia-Pacific - from 143.5 degrees East
