Aquainnovo is an initiative that includes the creation of a research and technology transfer and the incorporation of a team of scientists and top-level professionals who will work in research and development of breeding strategies and biotechnology.
It is a company founded in 2007 by initiative and contributions AquaChile Business SA, with the strong support of the Government of Chile through its grant funds as Innova Chile and the academic and scientific support of the University of Chile.
Aquainnovo aims to become a world leader in Services Research and Technology Transfer in the area of genetics and Support for Aquaculture, maintaining a focus on sustainability.
In October 2016 BioMar Group signed an agreement with AquaInnovo to purchase and utilise 30 % of its aquaculture research and development centre situated in Lenca, Chile. This initiative has now been formalised and the new name of the centre is Aquaculture Technology Centre Patagonia (ATC Patagonia).
BioMar and AquaInnovo share the facilities of ATC Patagonia, the most complete and modern aquaculture research centre in the Southern Hemisphere. The research capacity that is not being used by BioMar will be available for developing trials and research projects through AquaInnovo.
